SDI Open Water Scuba Diver Practice Exam

When divers encounter marine life, approaching the animals slowly and avoiding touching them is the best practice. This approach minimizes stress on the marine animals, preserves their natural behaviors, and enhances the safety of both the diver and the wildlife. Many marine species may become frightened or agitated if they are approached too quickly or handled, which can lead to dangerous situations for the diver and potential harm to the animal.

Additionally, this method allows divers to observe the beauty of marine life from a respectful distance without disrupting their environment or behavior. Many marine species have delicate ecosystems that can be easily disturbed, and a gentle, cautious approach ensures minimal impact. Understanding and respecting marine life fosters a more enjoyable and sustainable diving experience while promoting conservation efforts.

Other options, such as chasing or provoking marine animals, using flash photography, or spear fishing, are not advisable. These actions can lead to harm for both the diver and the creatures encountered and may contravene local regulations designed to protect marine ecosystems.
